Fictitious play in an evolutionary environment

چکیده
We consider a continuous time version of the ctitious play model in an evolutionary environment. We derive two forms of the continuous time limit, both of which are approximations to a determinate version of the ctitious play updating algorithm. The rst is in the form of a rst-order partial di erential equation ('continuity equation') which we solve explicitly. The dynamic for a distribution of strategies is also derived, which we show that can be written in a form similar to a positive de nite dynamic. The asymptotic solution (in the ultra long run) is discussed in detail for 2-player, 2-strategy co-ordination and anti-coordination games, and we show convergence to Nash equilibrium in both cases. The second, and better, approximation (because 2nd-order terms are no-longer neglected) is in the form of a di usion equation. This is considerably more di cult to analyse. However, we show that it leads to the same asymptotic limit as the 1st-order approximation.

Naive fictitious play in an evolutionary environment
A fictitious play algorithm with a unit memory length within an evolutionary environment is considered. The aggregate average behavior model is proposed and analyzed. The existence, uniqueness and global asymptotic stability of equilibrium is proved for games with a cycling property. Also, a noisy version of the algorithm is considered, which gives rise to a system with a unique, globally asymp...
متن کاملHybrid Markov Game Controller Design Algorithms for Nonlinear Systems
Markov games can be effectively used to design controllers for nonlinear systems. The paper presents two novel controller design algorithms by incorporating ideas from gametheory literature that address safety and consistency issues of the ‘learned’ control strategy. A more widely used approach for controller design is the ∞ H optimal control, which suffers from high computational demand and at...

متن کاملDistributed Fictitious Play for Optimal Behavior of Multi-Agent Systems with Incomplete Information
A multi-agent system operates in an uncertain environment about which agents have different and time varying beliefs that, as time progresses, converge to a common belief. A global utility function that depends on the realized state of the environment and actions of all the agents determines the system’s optimal behavior. We define the asymptotically optimal action profile as an equilibrium of ...
متن کاملElectric Differential for an Electric Vehicle with Four Independent Driven Motors and Four Wheels Steering Ability Using Improved Fictitious Master Synchronization Strategy
Using an Electric Differential (ED) in electric vehicle has many advantages such as flexibility and direct torque control of the wheels during cornering and risky maneuvers. Despite its reported successes and advantages, the ED has several problems limits its applicability, for instance, an increment of control loops and an increase of computational effort. In this paper, an electric differenti...
